Today is an arrival day and a day for leisure. Meet the other participants and the guides in the evening and get ready for this macro photo tour.
Overnight in Bangalore.

Enjoy a macro & nature photography session during the day (indoors), and learn about the compositions and different technics from Kai.
We start our macro photo tour in the evening when we will head to a forested hill on the outskirts of Bangalore to photograph Bamboo pitvipers, Chameleons, Vine snakes, Geckos, Frogs and other wildlife. We will return to our accommodation in Bangalore at night.

Leave the bustling city of Bangalore behind and travel to Tumkur (2h drive).
We will spend the next two days in the region. We will explore the Tropical dry deciduous forest; where we join snake rescuers from the NGO WARCO (Wildlife Awareness and Reptile Conservation Organisation) to attend rescue calls for snakes and other wildlife trapped in houses, factories and farms.
This will give us a chance to see how rescues are done in a safe manner, learn about the human-wildlife conflict and to have the chance to photograph shy species.
At night, we will search for wildlife in the forests and fields around Devarayanadurga, a large protected area with good wildlife populations. Wildlife we are likely to encounter are Spectacled cobras, Indian ratsnakes, Russell’s vipers, Sawscaled vipers, Kraits, Catsnakes, and other animals.

A long (6h) drive is waiting for us today while we head South to a biodiversity hotspot, Coorg.
We will spend our next 2 nights here. At this spot, the highlights are mainly amphibians. The forests have a great endemic frog diversity and an increased probability of finding a rare coral snake species will make this part of the trip unforgettable. Some of the charismatic frogs here are the Malabar torrent toad, Dancing frogs, Bush frogs and Night frogs.
Overnight in Coorg.

We spend the next 4 nights at the Wayanad Wild. The hotel is located in a primary rainforest and boasts luxury accommodations and outstanding food. It will be an excellent place to look for unique animals and exercise nature photography.
There are trails throughout the property where we can find wildlife. Some of the wildlife we are likely to encounter are Malabar pitvipers, Humpnosed pitivipers, Vine snakes, Coral snakes, Pythons, and a variety of frogs and lizards.

Today we leave the rainforest and travel back to the busy city of Bangalore. There is an option to extend your stay and enjoy two nights in Kabini with wildlife safaris looking for tigers, wild dogs, elephants etc.

After breakfast you are free to either explore the city of Bangalore or depart.

We offer the option for a 2-night safari add-on in Kabini. Look for India’s megafauna (2 safaris/day); Bengal tigers, Indian leopards, Asiatic wild dogs, Sloth bears, Indian elephants, and a variety of deer species are possible finds here.
Other than these animals, Kabini is also rich in bird life. Over 350 species of birds have been recorded. Raptors such as Crested Hawk Eagles (Nisaetus cirrhatus), Crested Serpent Eagles (Spilornis cheela), Little Banded Goshawks (Accipiter badius), Black Eagles (Ictinaetus malaiensis) are seen in Kabini. Vultures, Hornbills, Parakeets,Flycatchers, Owls, Woodpeckers and Kingfishers can be found.

Kai Kolodziej
Kai is an Austrian multi-award-winning Nature and Macro Photographer. In addition to his interest in nature, which started at a young age, he studied biology and works as a biology teacher in Austria.
His photography started by documenting the findings on various excursion in Austria, or tropical places and deserts. From the starting point it soon developed into more and soon he managed to capture nature in a aesthetically and artistically pleasing way. His photographic works are regularly featured in national and international nature photography competitions and articles.
Since 2019 Kai is a member of the Austrian Society for Nature Photography and a member of the German Society for Nature Photography, in addition to that he is a part of the advisory board of the Austrian Herpetological Society.
