Day 1: Arrive at San Jose

 

Upon arrival at the capital of Costa Rica, our driver will transfer you to your accommodation. In the evening free time for leisure.

Day 2: San Jose to Tortuguero National Park

 

Early departure from San Jose, you will be travelling with a shared transfer to one of the country’s unique places, to Tortuguero. Breakfast will be served en-route. At the end of the drive, you will embark on a small boat and be taken to your lodge in the lagoons. Later on today, you will explore the tiny village of Tortuguero and learn about the local people and how they live in such a remote place on the Caribbean side of Costa Rica. You will also have the chance to visit the Sea Turtle Information Centre and learn about this vital sea turtle nesting site.

Day 3: Tortuguero

 

After an early breakfast, you will take a shared boat excursion to the canals of the National Park of Tortuguero. The visit to the National Park is usually the highlight of the stay in this region as you will be able to see the dense vegetation and its inhabitants, monkeys, birds, and big green iguanas.

Day 4: Tortuguero to Arenal

 

Breakfast at the lodge, then you will leave Tortuguero on a shared boat. Then you will be picked up by a private transfer and will be taken to Arenal. (2,5 Hours)

Check in to your hotel and free time for leisure.

Day 5: Cano Negro Private boat excursion

 

Today you will be visiting one of the most important wetlands and migratory bird refuge, Cano Negro. This crucial wildlife reserve is close to the Nicaraguan border. You will embark on a private boat with a naturalist guide and will look for caimans, monkeys, sloths and different birds. Lunch will be provided during the excursion.

Day 6: Arenal

 

You will spend the day at the Asis Wildlife Rescue Centre Project. The project support social, cultural, environmental and conservation project within the Arenal area.

Firstly, you will have the chance to discover the reserve with a guide and learn about the animals who inhabit the are and why conservation is so important.

Later on, you will have the chance to look into the Rescue Centre’s daily life, help prepare food for the rescued animals, and feed them.

Day 7: Arenal to Manuel Antonio

 

Breakfast at the hotel then your driver will transfer you to Manuel Antonio (5 hours). After arrival, free time for leisure and enjoy the facilities of the hotel.

Day 8: Manuel Antonio National Park

 

Breakfast at the hotel, then you will be heading out to explore the small but incredibly diverse Manuel Antonio National Park with your private guide. The park is one of the most popular in the country due to its beautiful beaches and abundant wildlife. Three of the four monkey species can be found here. You will take a 3km long hike with your guide and learn about the National Park and its flora and fauna.

Day 9: Manuel Antonio to Puerto Jimenez (Osa Peninsula)

 

After breakfast, check out from the hotel and a private transfer will take you to Puerto Jimenez where you will stay for the next three nights.

The Osa Peninsula is one of the most remote places in the country; it is home to Corcovado National Park, which is one of the most biodiverse places on Earth.

Day 12: Departure day

 

Breakfast at the lodge and then you will embark your flight from Puerto Jimenez to San Jose. Your trip will finish on arrival at San Jose Airport.
