Arrive at Sao Paulo, we will meet at the airport, around 6-7am and will drive straight to our fist lodge (4h), near Tapirai. Afternoon bird photography by the feeders.

Overnight near Tapirai.
We will spend two full days at the Trilha dos Tucanos Lodge. The location is jut stunning, surrounded by the cloud forest. The lodge has several feeders that attract parakeets, toucans, tanagers and woodpeckers.
During these two days will will spend time at the main feeder focusing on still and bird in flight photography. We will have really good chances to photograph Red-breasted toucans and Saffron Toucanets.

Overnight near Tapirai.
We will travel further South (3h) to a very unique accommodation. Duco, a local ex hunter turned into conservationist has an incredible knowledge about birds. While the accommodation is basic, the set-ups, the home made meals will make up for it. We will photograph the birds and hummingbirds at the feeders today.

Overnight at Duco’s lodge.
We will spend the next two days photographing bird and humming birds at Duco’s and at the nearby Forest. We are South of PETAR, the forest is lush and can be misty here. but it is a heaven for hummingbirds, tanagers, toucans and motmots. With a bit of luck we can observe the stunning Channel-billed toucan, the Rufus-capped motmot or the Festive Coquette.

Overnight at Duco’s Lodge.
Today is a long travel day (6h) when we drive from the Southeast to the Northeast of the State. Our last location is the newest, and probably the nicest lodge. Surrounded by beautiful nature it is a haven for birds. We will spend the afternoon photographing resident birds in the garden.

Overnight at Macuqinho Lodge.
We spend the last two full days around the lodge photographing various species. We will mainly concentrate on the feeders that attract colourful birds. Species that we can observe include the Black Jacobin, Brassy-breasted tanager, Golden-winged cacique, Ruby-crowned tanager, Versicoloured emerald and many more.

Overnight at Macuqinho Lodge.
After a good rest and a tasty breakfast, it’s time to say goodbye to the Mata Atlantica of Brazil. We will drive back to Sao Paulo where the tour will end at the International Airport. (2h drive)

Trilha dos Tucanos (Classic)
A classic birding lodge in the cloud forest east of Sao Paulo. It is surrounded by beautiful hills and forest, and it has several feeders attracting a great variety of birds.
Eldorado Area
Duco’s Lodge (Basic)
This rustic, basic lodge is located 5h from Sao Paulo. While the accommodation is basic, Duco (the owner) is a conservation champion who loves birds and nature. His feeders attracts 10+ species of hummingbirds, an array of tanagers and toucans too. You will be welcomed with great Brazilian hospitality and incredible home cooked meals.
Serra do Mar Area
Macuquinho Lodge (Classic)
This is a newly built lodge near the Serra do Mar State Park. it only has 5, but very comfortable rooms. A wide range of species visit the gardens, which will compliment the other two lodges on this tour.

This is a wildlife photography tour focusing on the Atlantic Forest in the State of Sao Paulo, Brazil. The main focus of the holiday is to photograph the colourful bird of the Rainforest. We will visit three locations around Sao Paulo that are excellent to observe and to photograph the diverse avifauna.
The area is home to some stunning toucans, the Channel-billed toucan, the Red-breasted toucan and the Saffron toucanet will be show stoppers for sure. With some luck you will also able to photograph endemic or near endemic birds like the Festive Coquette or the Rufus-capped motmot.
It is a relaxed itinerary, as we concentrate only on 3 lodges where the feeders will provide excellent bird photography opportunities. Sergio’s presence will also ensure that you will have an outstanding time with a local expert.
